Earlier this year, our government temporarily suspended the federal fuel excise tax on gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel to provide immediate relief at the pump.
Today, I’m pleased to share that this relief is being extended until January 31, 2027.
What This Means for You:
- Ten cents less per litre on regular gasoline
- Four cents less per litre on diesel
- Continued savings for families, workers, and businesses through the fall and winter
| For families and businesses across Edmonton Centre, this means more money staying in your pocket as global uncertainty continues to put pressure on energy prices and everyday costs. |
| Beginning February 1, 2027, the federal fuel excise tax will return at half its regular rate until March 31, before returning to its full rate on April 1, 2027. |
| This extension is part of our broader work to make life more affordable, alongside cutting income taxes for 22 million Canadians, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, GST relief for first-time homebuyers purchasing new homes, and the elimination of the consumer carbon price. |
| We cannot control the global forces driving up prices, but we can control how we respond. By extending this tax relief, we are helping Canadians manage costs today while continuing to build a stronger and more resilient economy. |
