Dear Neighbour, |
Happy Canada Day! |
Thank you to everyone who requested a Canada Day lawn sign and helped bring a little extra red and white to Edmonton Centre. |
Today is a time to celebrate the country we love, the people who make it strong, and the values that bring us together: service, generosity, resilience, and a shared belief in building a better future. |
| For me, Canada Day is also a reminder that being Albertan and being Canadian are deeply connected. I am an extremely proud Albertan and an extremely proud Canadian. I do not believe we should ever be asked to choose between those two parts of who we are. |
| Alberta has helped build Canada, and Canada has helped build Alberta. From our workers and entrepreneurs to our families, communities, and natural resources, this province has always played an essential role in our country’s story. Our future is stronger when we move forward together. |
That is why, as conversations continue about Alberta’s place in Canada ahead of the October 19 referendum, I want to be clear: I wholeheartedly oppose Alberta separatism. I believe Alberta’s future is brighter in Canada, and I will continue to make that case directly to Albertans. |
This province is where I built my life, raised my family, and saw firsthand what is possible when people work hard, look out for one another, and believe in something bigger than themselves. Alberta is central to Canada’s future, and our voice must continue to be heard loudly and clearly within Confederation. |
As your Member of Parliament for Edmonton Centre, and as Minister responsible for PrairiesCan, I will keep working to deliver for Albertans, support strong communities, grow our economy, and build a more united Canada. |
On this Canada Day, I hope you and your loved ones have a joyful celebration. May we take pride in all that we have built together, and recommit ourselves to the work of keeping Canada strong, united, and full of opportunity. |
All my best, |
Eleanor |
